Worth the drive
Henderson Beach State Park
Thirty foot white dunes, a nature trail, and beach access away from the crowded stretches. Day-use reservations became mandatory on 15 May 2026, so it is a book-ahead morning rather than a spontaneous one.
Destin Harbor Boardwalk
A quarter mile of restaurants, fishing charters, and dolphin cruises along the harbour. Where an evening in Destin tends to end up.
HarborWalk Village
The waterfront end of the boardwalk, with weekly fireworks through the summer and live music most nights.
Crab Island
A submerged sandbar in the pass, reachable only by boat, where the water sits waist deep. Rent a pontoon for the day or take a shuttle from the harbour.
Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park
Marine park on Okaloosa Island. The reliable answer to a day when the Gulf is too rough for children.
