The dock is private
Not a shared community dock with a sign-up sheet. It is at the bottom of the property on Allen Lake and nobody else uses it. Bring fishing gear and a kayak.

A gas fireplace, lit in any month
Gas log rather than woodpile, so a cold evening in April is a decision that takes one switch instead of an hour.

A king suite with its own way in
The lower level king suite has a kitchenette, a Keurig, and an ensuite bathroom, reached from the lower deck rather than through the house. Worth knowing before you book: there are no interior stairs to it.

A trail that starts at the house
A private natural path of about three hundred feet from the cabin down to the lake, so a morning walk does not begin by getting in the car. Dave calls it a great workout, which is a fair warning about the way back.

Mountain and lake, all year
Rich Mountain across the water and the lake below it, from the decks and from most windows. Blue Ridge peaks in the fall and then keeps going.
