Worth the drive
Coligny Beach Park
The island's main public beach access, and the closest to the house at roughly a fifteen minute walk. Free, with showers, splash pads, and boardwalks over the dunes.
Coligny Plaza
Shops, restaurants, and an ice cream queue, at the end of the same walk. The reason the car can stay where you parked it.
Harbour Town and the lighthouse
The red and white striped lighthouse inside Sea Pines, ninety feet up, with the yacht basin below it. Non-resort guests pay a gate fee to enter Sea Pines.
Sea Pines Forest Preserve
Six hundred acres of the island left undeveloped, with an elevated boardwalk through the Vanishing Swamp and alligators that are genuinely there.
Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge
Four thousand acres of salt marsh and rookery just off the island, flat and quiet, and the best birding within reach.
The island bike paths
More than sixty miles of paved path, including a stretch of hard sand beach rideable at low tide. Most visitors rent for the week and use them instead of the car.
